The Hunt?? or The Hunted.
A cool brisk morning in the woods, a day of relaxation. Daylight is yet to come. I know the area well, sitting on the edge of a clearing, narrow, about 30 yards wide, but long, about 350 yards in length. Anticipating daybreak, listening to the drops of dew falling off the leaves of the trees into the leaves on the ground. Daylight slowly melts away the darkness, making a mist of fog appear in the air. There is the rustle of two squirrels chattering, running through the crisp fall leaves. Sounding as if the world was coming to an end. The sound of birds in the distance. What music, what a wonderful place For sight mind and heart to be. Another one of God's great creations.
Suddenly, quickly without warning of any kind.the peaceful mindset is broken. A deer appears, stepping out of the edge of the woods and through the mist of fog, full body. My adrenalin flows, my heart pounds. As I raise my gun to put the deer in my scope. I look, my mind races have I done my homework? Is my gun sighted in or have I bumped it out of allignment? Or has all of my efforts of sighting it in and trying to protect it going to pay off? As I look through the scope I bring the body of the deer into my crosshairs. Oh my it is a buck! It's antlers glisten with dampness in the morning light . My heart now really pounding, the adrenalin going into overdrive. Stop, I tell myself, concentrate. The rack, it's a good eight. As the deer snaps his head in my direction, no, not an eight, a ten, Oh my, oh my, as I take a deep breath, it's a once in a lifetime, it's a twelve point, wide and tall. Now my mind really races, have I done my homework? Have I gotten everything fine tuned and right. Or will this be the disappointment of a lifetime? As I adjust and place the crosshairs of my work on my target, I wonder......
On the day when the heavens open, the trumpets sound, the SON of God steps out suddenly quickly without warning, and comes hunting. Will you be prepared? For now you are the hunted. God will be taking trophies. He will be looking for those of us who have done our homework. And if you are not prepared, "sighted in, aimed well" what a sad day of disappointment this will be for you. You my friend will miss being the trophy of a Lifetime.
